McKINNEY, Texas (Oct. 26, 2015) – The public is invited to join the City of McKinney in honoring the brave men and women who have served in the U.S. military with two ceremonies at Veterans Memorial Park for Veterans Day this year.
On Saturday, Nov. 7 at 11 a.m., officials and dignitaries will commemorate our country’s veterans during the Veterans Day Tribute. Speakers at the event include U.S. Congressman Sam Johnson, McKinney Mayor Brian Loughmiller and retired Major John “Lucky” Luckadoo, USAAF and USAF. The event will also include a missing man formation flyover and a performance of patriotic songs by the McKinney North High School choir.
On Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, a sundown ceremony will be held that will include the reading of the names displayed on the Wall of Honor at Veterans Memorial Park. An assembly bugle call will sound at 5:26 p.m., and the ceremony will last approximately 45 minutes.
Veterans Memorial Park in McKinney features a Wall of Honor inscribed with names of Collin County service members who died in the line of duty, and the park honors all veterans.
