City Manager Jason Gray announced Thursday the hiring of Rodney Rhoades as Finance Director. Rhoades will start Aug. 22.
“Rodney’s experience in financial management and operations will be valuable to McKinney as we continue to grow and develop. I know he will be an outstanding fit to lead our finance division,” said Gray.
Rhoades has more than 25 years of experience in government finance with both cities and counties in Texas. He joins the staff from Travis County in Austin, where he served as County Executive and Budget Officer and oversaw the Budget, Finance, Human Resources, Risk Management, Long Range Financial Planning, Facilities Planning, Economic Development, and Investment Management divisions. He is familiar with the area as he served in a similar role for Collin County between 2000 and 2008 and with the cities of Grand Prairie and Garland for over a decade prior to that.
“I believe that the City of McKinney has a wealth of exciting opportunities in the near and long term future. With available land mass and easy access to major highways, I believe that McKinney is and will be one of the most sought locations for both residential and commercial development,” said Rhoades.
Interim Finance Director Jason Cooley will now serve in the permanent role of Budgeting and Strategic Planning Director. Both positions report directly to the City Manager.
