City Council to Recognize Military Families

The McKinney City Council will recognize three local families on behalf of their family members who are currently serving in the military at the regular City Council meeting at 6 p.m. July 19, in the Council Chambers, 222 N. Tennessee.

The recognition is part of the city’s Blue Star program, which presents a Blue Star Flag to each family in McKinney with a serviceman or servicewoman currently deployed in the service of our country. The Blue Star Flag is designed to hang in a front window of a family’s home. Fifty-nine McKinney families have been presented with Blue Star Flags since the program began.

Blue Star families recognized for July are:

«                    Blair VanScoyoc in honor of her husband, Scott VanScoyoc

«                    Kimberly & Ed Silva in honor of their son Darrell D. Silva

«                    Deanne & Jason Glasser in honor of their son, Lee Glasser

McKinney residents who are parent(s) or spouses of servicemen or women are eligible to receive a Blue Star Flag. Please contact Cathy Lennox, McKinney Police Department Administrative Manager, at clennox@mckinneytexas.org or 972-547-2708 for more information.
