The McKinney City Council pulled double duty during Monday evening’s meeting with a work session and a regular council meeting, too. The need for the two meetings was due to National Night Out, which will be held throughout McKinney on Tuesday.
In the work session, the council members provided updates on the various boards and commissions, which they are currently serving as liaisons for. As part of the updates, Mayor Brian Loughmiller requested that the council review the bylaws of the city’s boards and commissions to ensure that each board or commission has its term limits properly structured.
The council discussed several other issues during its regular meeting, including:
Payments to Raytheon and Encore Wire Approved: As part of the consent agenda, which is voted on without further discussion unless a council member requests discussion, payments were authorized to Raytheon and Encore Wire for their recent expansions in McKinney.
The payments were requested as a part of a budget amendment for the McKinney Economic Development Corporation. The MEDC approved payment to Raytheon for $1,530,000 and $700,000 to Encore Wire pending certificate of occupancy for both companies.
