Gossip around town has been that several student athletes at Boyd High School were caught with drugs and I’m so, so happy to be the bearer of good news this time. This gossip is just that, just gossip. School district officials shared with TSB staff that they are unable to discuss issues that happen with kids, including any disciplinary actions, but, whatever happened, happened off campus during non school hours. Sounds like a case of photos, Facebook and kids who were just doing stupid kid stuff – oh, and yeah, I do remember those days (although this is not the time or place for those confessions – maybe someday), do you?
In other talk around town….Ruggeri’s Italian Restaurant is due to open by Dickens’ of a Christmas weekend – that would be Thanksgiving weekend. Perfect timing going into the holiday season.
Speaking of restaurants, the reality show Chef Hunter premiers on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 9 p.m. and one of our very own local chefs will be featured in an upcoming episode. (can’t say which chef yet, but hope to let you know soon!)
In each 60-minute episode, chefs compete against each other in a series of culinary challenges over a two- to three-day period, with the winning chef earning the title of Executive Chef at a high-end restaurant. Chef Hunter looks behind the kitchen door at a uniquely cutthroat interview process that tests culinary skill, business acumen and the tenacity required to be an executive chef. Can’t wait to watch!
Rumor has it that the new director of the McKinney Performing Arts Center, Ty Lake, is looking to pull in a big draw talent within the next few weeks. Wouldn’t that be amazing? More details to come.
On the west side of town, since Adriatica has been purchased, signs of new life are developing. Construction of a new office building and a villa has begun and the structures which will house the Farmers’ Market are still in the works. Now, won’t you please do something to that monster parking garage that everyone is so sick of looking at?
Till next time, peeps.
