Chatterbox: Comings and Goings Around Town

By Cathy, TSB Contributing Writer

What’s up peeps!?  It’s been too long, but I’ve been busy getting in shape for spring break – you know – the hair, a little fake and bake, mani, pedi, and, oh, have I mentioned the ghastly diet?  I was close to broke before I even went on my trip to Florida (I won’t say exactly where – that’s an invasion of my privacy that I only share with my all 25 of my FB friends)

So, what’s been happening in and around my beloved McKinney?

I see that a new Italian Beef place, Tony’s, is opening soon. In the strip center on the north side of W. Virginia Pkwy, just east of Randy Lee Lane.  By the looks of things it will be the beef sandwiches and hot dogs – mmm, interesting. My visits to Chicago have made me a fan of those Italian Beef sandwiches, so can’t wait to check this place out when it open.

I see Scooter’s Coffee is STILL only drive through accessible. What’s takin so long? We need another coffee lounge west of 75!

Speaking of joe, looks like a new coffee shop is coming to downtown McKinney next to La Misha….. Snug on the Square Coffee House and Comfort Food.  Can’t wait to see what this place will add to downtown.

While thinking of downtown, I hear that the head chef at Rick’s Chop House, Lee Fields, has moved on. Given Rick’s standards, I’m pretty darn sure that the quality of food served will continue to be stellar.

Has anyone else tried out the chocolates made in house at Goodies, 114 North Tennessee Street?  I was wowed by the caramels and want to go back to try a slab of the fudge.  The shop owner mentioned that they will be preparing some special Easter candy.  Gnarly!!

For more information, give them a call at (972) 542-3040.

A new frozen yogurt shop, PKY (Peachy Keen Yogurt) has opened at 224 E. Virginia, just to the east and on the same side of the street as the former Aparicio’s, for those of you who remember. The day I stopped by the shop was closed due to unforeseen circumstances. Has anyone tried it yet?

I noticed that Culver’s is all settled into their new digs at their new location at the northwest corner of Eldorado and Orchid (next to the video shop). Gotta love that frozen custard!

That’s all I’ve got for now.

Till later,
