Submitted by McKinney Chamber of Commerce
The McKinney Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their much anticipated “Meet the Purchasers” Small Business Roundtable on Tuesday, May 8, 2012. The breakfast will be held at the Collin County Higher Education Center from 7:30 – 9:00 a.m. and is sponsored by Haynes Landscape and Maintenance. Meet the Purchasers is the Chamber’s connection point to public and private entities looking to purchase products and business-to-business services.
The panel of speakers will include 5 purchasing experts from various areas of McKinney:
David Patterson, Director of Supply Chain Management – Baylor Medical Center McKinney
David has been in the purchasing business for over 16 years. He has worked with large corporations such as Walmart and Target and various hospitals.
Lincoln Thompson, Contract Specialist – City of McKinney
Lincoln has been working with the City of McKinney for over 6 years, currently as a Buyer. Prior to his time with McKinney, he worked for the City of Carrollton in their Community Development Department.
Debbie Nye, CPPO, CPPB, Purchasing Manager – City of McKinney
Debbie has been working with the City of McKinney for 13 years. Prior to this, she worked with Collin County as an Assistant Purchasing Agent for 10 years.
Cindy White, Director of Purchasing – Collin College

She is the former President of the DFW Metroplex Chapter of National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP), serves on the Education and Professional Development Committee for the NIGP, and has served as Chair and Co-Chair of the Collin County Governmental Purchasing Forum
Beverly “BB” Biering, Director of Purchasing – McKinney Independent School District
Beverly has been the Director of Purchasing at McKinney ISD for 20 years. The MISD Purchasing Department is responsible for purchasing supplies, materials, equipment, furniture and services necessary for McKinney schools and offices to function efficiently.
This event will educate attendees on purchasing protocol, how to cut through extensive red tape and navigate through the seemingly endless maze of paperwork to get the opportunity to be on request for proposal lists and bid on contracts. The Chamber will even introduce attendees to important people in procurement offices and purchasers themselves. This is the inside track to winning new business.
