The Collin County Association of Realtors, after a long interview process with all
McKinney City Council At Large candidates, is endorsing Roger Harris for the position.
CCAR officials decided to endorse Harris in the At Large runoff election after they
recognized the overwhelming support for Harris by many of their McKinney members.
CCAR Government Affairs Director Diane Donley and CCAR President Malcolm Smith led the candidate endorsement process for the organization.
“We had so many of our members contacting us from offices throughout McKinney who spoke so highly of Roger and said that they were supporting him,” Donley said.
Each At Large candidate was sent a questionnaire and participated in an interview
process with CCAR officials in hopes of receiving their endorsement.
“We receive great feedback about our interview process. It is fair and balanced; the questions are consistent with each candidate and the interview responses are timed,” Smith said.
The interview committee voted to endorse Harris, which was then passed on to the
government affairs committee, who agreed upon the endorsement. The Board of
Directors approved CCAR’s endorsement of Harris.
“I am extremely honored and humbled to receive CCAR’s endorsement in the runoff election. I appreciate their involvement in the election process and in the community in general,” Harris said.
Donley and Smith said that CCAR looks to endorse a candidate who is open, accessible, receptive and communicative, and they saw those qualities in Harris.
“He agreed with a lot of our issues, we noted that he is very involved in the community and his answers were right on target with what we believe our issues are,” Donley said.
CCAR has 4,000 members, is highly involved in local politics and does various
community charitable projects, according to Smith.
Smith and Donley said realtors across the board support Harris and that CCAR is proud to endorse him.
Early voting for the runoff election begins June 6th and ends on the 14th. Election Day is June 18th.
