This week’s Volunteer McKinney Center opportunities are quite varied. See if one of them fits you.
— The Animal Ambassadors Program at SPCA of McKinney trains volunteers to help staff members provide exceptional care to animals while they wait for their “forever homes.” Volunteers must be 18 years old, or volunteer with a parent or guardian if 12-17 years old. Time commitment is 20 hours within three months, and each shift is 2 hours. Eventually, volunteers may complete Animal Handling Training and advance to additional program areas. For more information, go the VMC web site and click on “Animal Ambassadors” under Updated Listings.
–Ice Cream Lovers. Volunteer opportunities are available at the 16th annual Killis Melton Ice Cream Crank Off on Saturday, June 11th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Activities include homemade ice cream competition and tastings along with festivities for the entire family. Volunteers can serve as genersl runners, assist at the ice cream stations, help with set-up and take down, and help with sales at the refreshment tables. If you like ice cream and would enjoy helping, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
–Drive out hunger. Meals on Wheels volunteer drivers deliver meals to homebound Collin County seniors each day between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Applicants must be licensed, insured drivers 18 or older and complete a training session. If you can commit to 2 hours a month or more to ensure adequate nutrition for our community’s seniors, contact Lara Kitchens of Meals on Wheels at email@example.com or at 972-562-6996, ext. 125.
