Held in May, the Unique By Nature Juried Art Competition is designed to showcase the work of regional artists (professional, established, and emerging artists) 17 years of age and older. Sponsors include citizen leaders dedicated to the growth of the arts in McKinney. Substantial Purchase Prizes are awarded to outstanding works of art that then become part of the permanent art collection at MPAC.
Last year (2013), 63 artists from across North Texas submitted 105 works of art, of which 50 were juried into the exhibit, and 6 purchased with prize money. Artists contributed an additional $300.00 toward a Young Artist Prize, which was awarded to a deserving high school art student whose work was juried into the show, and which exhibited artistic excellence.
Submissions for the competition must be delivered to MPAC on April 19. Please see the Guild’s website for prospectus and information (www.artsandmusicguild.org). The Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony will be at MPAC on the evening of May 3, 2014.
The Unique By Nature Art Competition is coordinated by the McKinney Performing Arts Center (MPAC) and the Arts and Music Guild.
