McKinney Boyd’s subvarsity football teams had a successful Thursday night against Flower Mound.
BOYD JV RESULTS
The Boyd JV Red team won a close fight against Flower Mound 14-10. Ashton Pirkle earned player of the game rushing for two touchdowns and grabbing one interception. The defense played tough all game and made a huge stop late in the game to seal the win. They play McKinney High next Thursday at 5:30.
The Boyd JV Navy team lost to Flower Mound 23-7. Paxton Larson recorded one interception and Jaylen Smith earned player of the game with several big catches, including one for a touchdown. The Navy team plays McKinney High next Thursday at 7:00.
BOYD FRESHMAN RESULTS
The Boyd Freshman Red team pulled off a hard-earned victory this Thursday 27-21 over the Flower Mound Jaguars to improve their record to 2-0 on the season. The scoring started early with Zach Moses connecting on a deep ball to Reed Marchino for a 74-yard touchdown. Kane Norman came up big on the next Bronco possession with a 56-yard touchdown run. Bailey Mercer broke a 14-14 tie on a crowd pleasing 97-yard interception return for a touchdown. The final go ahead score was another Moses touchdown strike to Drew Smith for a 12-yard touchdown that sealed the game. The Broncos will take their unbeaten record on the road next Thursday to play cross-town rival McKinney High.
The McKinney Boyd 9th Grade “Blue” team ran their record to 2-0 on the young season with a convincing 47-0 victory over the visiting Flower Mound Jaguars. Will Hollis got the night started with a 12 yard TD run and the Hayden Brown extra point made it 7-0. Dedrick Scrivens would push the score to 20-0 with TD runs of 13 and 11 yards. Blake Gamash, who recently moved from Flower Mound, scored on a 3 yard run to make it 27-0. The final score of the first half came on a Ross Matiscik 47 yard run as the Broncos led 34-0 at halftime. Tyron Tarrant started the 2nd half with a 67 yard run that pushed the lead to 41-0. The final score of the night was turned in my Boone Tate with a 12 yard scamper. The Bronco defense was not to be outdone as they pitched their 2nd shutout in as many weeks. Boone Tate, Jacob Cantrell, and Jackie Clayton led the way as Boyd surrendered only 5 first downs on the evening. Boyd returns to action next week against McKinney High.
