McKinney Boyd entered Friday’s games one behind Garland with two to play in the chase for 10-5A’s fourth and final playoff spot. Garland cooperated nicely, losing to district leader Naaman Forest. But the Broncos lost, too, at home to Rowlett.
Rowlett 56, McKinney Boyd 47: The Broncos fell by nine points Friday night and they were already behind by eight after one quarter. That 13-5 disadvantage proved too much to overcome. Mike Parish led Boyd with 14 points while Faisal Monsour added 13. Boyd (5-8) finishes the reular season Tuesday at South Garland (6-7), one of two teams a game ahead of it. Meanwhile, Garland (6-7) will play host to Sachse (3-10).
Wylie 61, McKinney High 51: The Lions, 9-4 in District 10-4A and having already clinched a playoff berth, were upset on the road Friday. Wylie improved to 3-10 in district. Jonathan Shannon led the way with 16 points and Connor Fuentes added 12. MHS finishes the regular season by hosting Rockwall-Heath on Tuesday night.
Wylie East 73, McKinney North 69 (OT): The Bulldogs are in the playoffs but lost in an upset at home Friday. North (8-5 in 10-4A) led 20-11 after one quarter by Wylie East (5-8) turned the tables in the second quarter to tie things at 31 at the half. It was 66-66 after regulation. Julion Pearre and Alexander Ridley each scored 17 for North. Alex Pelton added 10. North finishes the regular season on the road at Richardson Pearce on Tuesday.
