GARLAND — It was a wild, wonderful ride, but the McKinney North Bulldogs’ 2012-13 season ended Friday night in the UIL’s Class 4A Region 2 Semifinals.
No. 8-ranked Dallas Kimball defeated the Bulldogs 56-49 at the Curtis Culwell Center, halting North’s big dreams only two wins shy of a trip to the state basketball finals. The Bulldogs finished the season with a 23-12 record and three playoff victories to their credit. They were coming off a dramatic Region 2 Quarterfinal win over Mansfield Legacy on Tuesday that will be remembered as one of the biggest in school history.
But on Friday, North fell behind its Dallas opponent 18-4 after the first quarter and never led. However, neither did they give up. The Bulldogs played hard, gave great effort and rallied to cut Kimball’s lead to 34-32 early in the fourth quarter. The game was in the balance.
However, Kimball held on.
Julion Pearre led North with 13 points while Kody Wilson added 12.
