McKinney North will play Friday and McKinney High will play Saturday in the second round of the UIL boys basketball playoffs.
North (22-12) will play Dallas Woodrow Wilson (25-3) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Garland Naaman Forest High School. The Bulldogs beat Carrollton Creekview 68-58 in the Area Round, while Wilson beat Dallas Pinkston 69-46. North is the No. 3 seed from 10-4A, while Wilson is the No. 1 seed from 12-4A after an 11-1 district record.
MHS (20-11) will play Dallas South Oak Cliff (27-7) at 1 p.m. Saturday at American Airlines Center. The Lions beat Frisco Centennial 53-51 in the Area Round, while South Oak Cliff beat Dallas Adams 90-81. MHS is the No. 2 seed from 10-4A, while South Oak Cliff is the No. 1 seed from 11-4A after a 14-0 district record. Basketball fans wanting a full day at the AAC can hang around after the MHS-South Oak Cliff game. Three more second round games will be played: DeSoto-Rowlett at 3 p.m., Arlington Seguin-Fort Worth Arlington Heights at 5 p.m., and South Grand Prairie-Plano West at 7 p.m. Organizers say they hope to make a day of playoff basketball like this at the AAC an annual event.
