The McKinney Boyd varsity football team improved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in District 10-5A play on Thursday night as it defeated homestanding North Garland 63-3.
North Garland remained winless on the season at 0-7.
The game was total domination. Coach Don Drake’s Broncos led 21-0 after the first quarter and 42-0 at halftime en route to the victory. Boyd gained nearly 500 yards of offense — 457 on the ground — and held North Garland to 193. Boyd attempted only five passes, while dominating with the running game.
Bryan Driskell led all performers with 205 rushing yards and four touchdown runs. In fact, his TD runs of 22, 23 and 5 yards provided all of the Broncos’ first-quarter scoring. He later added a 1-yard run to kick off the third quarter scoring and give Boyd a 49-0 lead.
Kalvon Howard added 123 rushing yards on only seven carries. Howard’s 72-yard TD run in the third quarter gave Boyd a 56-0 cushion.
Curtis Ladd added 95 yards on 10 carries, including an 8-yard TD run in the second quarter.
The Broncos host Sachse next Thursday, Oct. 20, at Ron Poe Stadium.
