A relatively new select soccer club is currently forming their first girls team, a 99 girls team here in McKinney. Coaches Matt Alexander and John Cope are excited about testing the waters here in McKinney and have graciously volunteered to host a few weeks skills training sessions to 99 girls as they begin to recruit for a new team.
The first skills training session was announced on short notice, drawing in 8 girls. Coach Alexander drilled the girls on passing and capture techniques as well as played a 4-on-4 rotating scrimmage. The girls walked away excited at the new possibility of trying out and hopefully making a select club team.
The Blackhawks FC philosophy is competitive with a strong focus on skill development and good sportsmanship. Coach Alexander expressed his desire to teach the girls fundamentals and to have fun.
Coach Alexander plans to host a few weeks of training then begin to recruit from the participants for try outs in the Summer for the 99 girls team. Girls trying out must be born between August 1, 1998 and July 31, 1999 – but no later. There is the opportunity to play up, but not down.
If you are interested in having your daughter participate you can contact Coach Alexander via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 469.576.1188. Visit the Blackhawks website: www.e-clubsports.com/McKinneyBlackhawks
