MISD rivals and District 10-4A foes McKinney High and McKinney North split varsity boys and girls hoops wins on Tuesday. Read local results below:
McKinney High 87, McKinney North 81 (2 OT): The Lions pulled out a thrilling, seesaw affair on Tuesday night against the visiting Bulldogs. MHS led 23-11 after one quarter but North rallied to cut the Lions’ lead to 35-34 at halftime. It remained close throughout, tied at 71 after regulation and at 77 after one overtime. AJ Moutry of MHS led all scorers with 27 points while teammate Jonathan Shannon added 19. Collin Curran led North with 22 points, while teammate Alexander Ridley added 18, Jola Otubu 16 and Julion Pearre 15. On Friday, MHS travels to Richardson Pearce while North hosts Highland Park.
McKinney Christian Academy 50, Rockwall Heritage Christian 40: The Mustangs jumped ahead 19-4 after the first quarter and held on to win in the fourth quarter. Kaelen Malone led MCA with 11 points. Dallas Brock added 10.
McKinney North 32, McKinney High 31: The homestanding Lady Bulldogs rallied in the fourth quarter for the victory Tuesday. They trailed the Lionettes 15-13 at halftime and 21-18 after three quarters. Alexis Mason of North led all scorers with 16 points. Mikaehla Connor added 10. Breana Smalls led MHS with 14 points while teammate Mariah Mitchell added 10. On Friday, North travels to Highland Park while MHS plays host to Richardson Pearce.
Garland 55, McKinney Boyd 40: The Lady Broncos fell behind 14-5 after the first quarter at Boyd’s gym and couldn’t recover. They also trailed 32-21 at halftime. Micaela Gonzalez led Boyd with 16 points while Natalie Maina added 13. On Friday, Boyd hosts Garland Naaman Forest.
