Tuesday’s MISD basketball action included the McKinney North Lady Bulldogs kicking off District 13-4A play at Sherman. North got off to a good start with a win on the road, while the Boyd boys team won their tenth game of the season. Below is the full recap of all Tuesday’s action:
McKinney North Girls:
The Lady Bulldogs opened up District 13-4A play with a 62-53 victory at Sherman. North improved to 1-0 in district play, while Sherman fell to 0-1.
Chanterria Jackson led all scorers with 23 points for the Lady Bulldogs, while Alexis Mason finished with 12 points of her own. Amy Kleynhans and Viona Vraniqi each had 10 points.
North will host its first district game on Friday as Royse City comes to town. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
McKinney High Girls:
The Lionettes fell back to .500 on the season after losing to Flower Mound Marcus at home 48-33. MHS falls to 9-9 on the season, while Marcus improved to 13-4.
McKinney fell behind 16-4 after one quarter and 34-12 after the first half, putting the game away for good in this non-district matchup. Jazsmin Nelson led the Lionettes in scoring with 11 points in the loss.
McKinney will travel to Coppell next Tuesday night. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
The Broncos won their tenth game of the season as they knocked off Irving MacArthur 66-63 in overtime on the road. Boyd is now 10-2 on the season, while Irving MacArthur fell to 7-4.
Faisal Mansour led all scorers for the Broncos with 24 points, while 11 different players had at least one point in the game for Boyd. After a fourth quarter that saw 43 combined points between the two teams, the Broncos were able to outscore Irving MacArthur 9-6 in the overtime quarter to seal the win.
Boyd is back in action on Friday as the Broncos host Frisco Wakeland. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
The Lady Broncos dropped to 8-9 on the season after losing at Skyline 45-31. Skyline improved to 11-5 on the season.
Boyd did not score more than nine points in any quarter on Tuesday night, while allowing double digits in three of the four quarters. Micaela Gonzalez led the Lady Broncos in scoring with 10 points, as only five players had points in the game for Boyd.
The Lady Broncos will host Carrollton Ranchview on Friday night. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
