Basketball Scoreboard: Moutry Remains on Fire for Lions

McKinney High senior guard AJ Moutry is on fire. His 42 points in the Lions’ 83-80 overtime win Tuesday over Wylie East gives him 96 points combined in his last two games.

BOYS RESULTS

McKinney High 83, Wylie East 80 (OT): Moutry helped MHS improve to 4-0 in District 10-4A in a tight game. The Lions rallied from a 33-32 halftime deficit. The game was tied at 71 after regulation. The Lions had no other players score in double figures. MHS hosts Highland Park on Friday night.

McKinney North 69, Rockwall 59: The visiting Bulldogs rallied from a 32-29 halftime deficit by outscoring Rockwall 21-10 in the third quarter. Collin Curran and Julion Pearre each scored 17 for North, while Jola Otubu scored 15 and Alexander Ridley 10. The Dawgs are 2-2 in the district. They host Wylie on Friday.

North Garland 47, McKinney Boyd 43: The Broncos trailed 37-28 going into the fourth quarter and couldn’t quite catch up. Mikel Parish led Boyd with 16 points. North Garland earned its first District 10-5A win and has the same 1-3 record as does Boyd. The Broncos host Sachse on Friday.

Garland Christian 63, McKinney Christian 43: MCA’s Ben Bajema and Kaelen Malone each scored 12 points Tuesday. The Mustangs trailed 37-21 at halftime after Garland dominated the second quarter. MCA hosts Bullard Brook Hill on Friday.

GIRLS RESULTS

McKinney High 60, Wylie East 26: The Lionettes got 15 points from Briana Smalls and 13 from Mariah Mitchell as it pounded East to improve to 3-3 in the district. East fell to 0-6. MHS led 15-2 after one quarter and 33-11 at halftime. MHS travels to Highland Park on Friday night.

McKinney Boyd 40, North Garland 31: The Lady Broncos shut out North Garland 4-0 in the first quarter but winless North Garland tied the game 11-11 at the half. A 22-10 run by Boyd in the third quarter made the difference. Rochelle Vasquez led the Broncs with 11 points. Boyd is 3-3 in district, North Garland is 0-6 and 0-16 overall. Boyd hosts Sachse on Friday.

McKinney Christian 70, Garland Christian 17: The Lady Mustangs have held each of their past two opponents to 17 points. Kaitlyn McAdams scored 27 points to lead the win. Julie James and Sidney Thompson each had 11. MCA hosts Bullard Brook Hill on Friday.

Rockwall 51, McKinney North 44: The Bulldogs got 16 points from Alexis Mason. They trailed 29-24 at halftime and couldn’t recover. Mikaehla Connor added 10. North travels to Wylie on Friday night.
