Basketball Scoreboard: MISD Varsity Teams Go 6-0 Friday Night!

Can you say clean sweep? McKinney High, McKinney North and McKinney Boyd can. Their boys and girls teams won their games Friday night.

BOYS RESULTS

McKinney North 58, Richardson Pearce 54: The Bulldogs won their fourth straight game to improve to 5-2 in 10-4A competition. Julion Pearre lead the way with 18 points. Collin Curran added 13 and Alexander Ridley 10. North travels to Rockwall-Heath on Tuesday, Jan. 24.

McKinney High 83, Rockwall-Heath 63: The Lions trailed after a quarter, then ferociously pounced. They outscored Heath 27-12 in the second quarter to take a 40-27 lead at halftime and rolled from there. AJ Moutry led the way with 35 points. Jonathan Shannon added 14. MHS next hosts Rockwall on Tuesday, Jan. 24.

McKinney Boyd 51, South Garland 35: The Broncos pulled away in the second half with a 31-19 run to win a 10-5A contest at home. Mike Darling scored 15 to lead Boyd. The Broncos next host Garland Lakeview Centennial on Tuesday, Jan. 24.

Shelton 74, McKinney Christian 26: The Mustangs couldn’t get it going against a good squad Friday. Shelton raced to a 22-6 first-quarter lead and 45-12 halftime advantage. Kaelen Malone led MCA with 14 points. MCA travels to Richardson Canyon Creek Christian on Tuesday.

GIRLS RESULTS

McKinney Boyd 55, South Garland 49 (OT): The Lady Broncos snapped a two-game losing streak by pulling out an overtime win. Boyd led most of the entire game, not only 18-9 after a quarter and 26-21 at halftime but even 41-27 going into the fourth quarter. But South Garland mounted a furious rally to force overtime. Haley Carruthers led Boyd with 19 points. Boyd next plays host to Garland Lakeview Centennial on Tuesday, Jan. 24.

McKinney North 53, Richardson Pearce 33: The Lady Dawgs won their second straight game and improved to 6-3 in 10-4A play. Alexis Mason led the way with 18 points. Amy Kleynhans added 12 and Danielle Coleman 11. North hosts Rockwall-Heath on Tuesday, Jan. 24.

McKinney High 77, Rockwall-Heath 35: The Lionettes rolled easily on Friday, grabbing a 34-14 halftime lead and cruising. Breana Smalls led MHS with 25 points. Brianna Blackburn and Mariah Mitchell added 12, while Payton Brenham scored 11. MHS travels to Rockwall on Tuesday, Jan. 24.

McKinney Christian 57, Shelton 17: The MCA girls dominated Shelton as badly as the Shelton boys dominated MCA. The Lady Mustangs led 26-4 after one quarter. MCA travels to Richardson Canyon Creek Christian on Tuesday.
