Basketball Scoreboard: MHS, MCA Girls Win; as do Boyd, North Boys

McKinney High’s Mariah Mitchell, MCA’s Katilyn McAdams and McKinney North’s Julion Pearre are among Friday’s standouts.

GIRLS RESULTS

McKinney High 68, Highland Park 65: Mariah Mitchell scored a game-high 28 points and Breana Smalls added 17 as the Lionettes edged the Lady Scots on the road Friday night. The game was close throughout. MHS led 34-30 at halftime and the game was tied at 48 going into the fourth quarter. Kaitlyn Read scored 27 to lead Highland Park. Both teams stand 4-3 in District 10-4A play. The Lionettes travel to Wylie on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

McKinney Christian 50, Brook Hil Academy 23: The Lady Mustangs’ Kaitlyn McAdams led the way with 22 points and seven steals. MCA is 14-9 overall and 3-0 in the district. See the complete submitted story in our sports section. MCA plays at Dallas Lutheran on Tuesday, Jan. 17 for first place in the district.

Wylie 63, McKinney North 51: The Lady Bulldogs fell to 4-3 in 10-4A while Wylie improved to 6-1. Alexis Mason scored 19 for North, while Chanterria Jackson added 10. Trailing 34-18 at the half, North rallied to cut Wylie’s lead to 43-35 going into the fourth quarter. North hosts Wylie East on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Sachse 51, McKinney Boyd 31: Micaela Gonzalez scored 13 and Rochelle Vasquez 11 for the Lady Broncos. District 10-5A leader Sachse remained unbeaten (7-0) with the win.  A close game stood 21-14 in Sachse’s favor at the half before Sachse broke it open in the final 16 minutes. Boyd travels to Rowlett on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

BOYS RESULTS

McKinney North 59, Wylie 46: The Bulldogs fell behind 13-8 after the first quarter, then awoke, outscoring Wylie 51-33 the rest of the way. Julion Pearre led MNHS with 19 points. Collin Curran added 10. North travels to Wylie East on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

McKinney Boyd 45, Sachse 40: The Broncos edged Sacshe in a 10-5A contest that kept Sachse below them in the standings. Martez Butler and Daylon Markham each scored 10 for Boyd (2-3) while Sachse fell to 1-4. Boyd led 22-15 at the half and 35-27 after three quarters. Boyd travels to Rowlett on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Highland Park 62, McKinney High 61: A thrilling game came down to the wire at MHS between previously 4-0 District 10-4A leaders. AJ Moutry led MHS with 20 points while Jonathan Shannon aded 19.
