Basketball Scoreboard: MHS Girls Earn First District Victory, North Girls Win 14th Straight & MHS Boys Top Coppell

On a busy Tuesday night in MISD basketball, the McKinney High boys concluded non-district play with a road win at Coppell while the Lionettes topped Plano East for their first District 10-5A win of the season. Below are recaps of each game:

McKinney Boyd Girls:

The Lady Broncos dropped to 0-2 in District 10-5A play with a 67-43 road loss at Plano on Tuesday night. Plano improved to 2-0 with the win.

After leading 20-19 at the half, Boyd was outscored 48-23 in the second half to drop to 10-14 overall this season. Julia Hendrieth led the Lady Broncos in scoring with 15 points, while Jordan Brightwell finished with 10 points.

Boyd is back in action on Friday night when the Lady Broncos host 1-1 Allen. Game time is 6 p.m.

McKinney High Boys:

The Lions won their final non-district game of the season on Tuesday night by defeating Coppell on the road 64-60. McKinney High improved to 15-5 overall this season.

Raynell Denny led MHS in scoring with 21 points and Connor Fuentes finished with 15 points.

MHS tips off District 10-5A play on Friday night when the Lions travel to Plano West, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

McKinney High Girls:

The Lionettes defeated Plano East on the road 46-45 to earn their first District 10-5A win of the season. McKinney High improved to 15-11 overall and 1-1 in district play.

Mariah Mitchell led all scorers with 26 points and was the only MHS player in double figures.

MHS returns to action on Friday night when the Lionettes travel to Plano West to face the Lady Wolves. Game time is 6 p.m.

McKinney North Boys:

The Bulldogs improved to 3-1 in District 13-4A with a convincing 73-54 road win at Wylie East on Tuesday night. North improved to 11-9 overall this season with the win.

North used a 21-8 second quarter to extend a 19-point halftime lead. Julion Pearre and Kody Wilson each finished with 17 points, while Collin Curran had 12 points. Steele Douglas added 11 points and Bryson Brown had 10 points of his own.

The Bulldogs will host 1-2 Denison on Friday night, beginning at 8 p.m.

McKinney North Girls:

The Lady Bulldogs won their 14th straight contest on Tuesday night by defeating Wylie East on the road 59-45. North improved to 6-0 in District 13-4A play and 21-3 overall this season.

Alexis Mason led the way with 22 points, while Chanterria Jackson finished with 20 points.

North returns to action on Friday night when the Lady Bulldogs host Denison, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
