Perfection. Pure Perfection. McKinney North’s varsity girls and boys basketball teams are undefeated in District 13-4A competition this season after sweeping Lovejoy High School on the road Tuesday night.
As a result, the Lady Bulldogs improved to 10-0 and the Bulldogs improved to 8-0 as the orange-clad school on the north side of town is laying claim to MacTown Hardwood Kings for the 2013-14 season.
North’s boys beat Lovejoy 68-43 on Tuesday; its girls team won 39-30.

Plano High 62, McKinney High 55: The Lions fell to 1-3 in District 10-5A with Tuesday’s home loss. Trailing only 40-38 going into the fourth quarter, MHS couldn’t pull it out. Plano won its first district game of the season. Preston Smith led MHS in scoring with 16 points. The Lions play host to Plano East on Friday night.
McKinney North 68, Lovejoy 43: The Bulldogs (10-0 in 13-4A) had three players in double figures. Julion Pearre scored 16, Collin Curran 15 and Jola Otubu 13. North jumped ahead 18-7 in the first quarter on the road and never looked back.
Plano West 92, McKinney Boyd 31: The winless Broncos were blitzed on the road in Plano. Nick Barber led Boyd with 17 points. Plano West (4-0 in District 10-5A) led 45-24 at halftime before outscoring Boyd 26-0 in the third quarter and 47-7 in the second half. Boyd plays host to Plano High on Friday night.
McKinney High 57, Plano High 47: The Lionettes trailed by two at halftime and rallied for the victory, pulling even with Plano High for second place at 4-2 in District 10-5A. Both teams trail district leading Plano West (6-0). Mariah Mitchell led MHS with 22 points as Jazsmin Nelson added 18. Mika Stutts scored 11. Trailing 25-23 at intermission, MHS outscored Plano 17-7 in the third quarter to take the lead.
McKinney North 39, Lovejoy 30: The Lady Bulldogs improved to a perfect 10-0 in District 13-4A Tuesday with a road victory over Lovejoy (8-2). It completed the season sweep for North, which also beat second-place Lovejoy 36-29 in overtime at home on Dec. 17. Amy Kleynhans’ nine points led a balanced attack for North that saw seven players score Tuesday.
Plano West 60, McKinney Boyd 46: The Lady Broncos fell to 1-5 in 10-5A with the road loss. Emily Disney led Boyd with 13 points. Trailing 35-16 at halftime, Boyd outscored district-leading Plano West (6-0) by a 30-25 margin in the second half.
