Basketball Scoreboard: Girls Teams Prep for MISD Roundball Classic

With the MISD Roundball Classic just days away for the girls teams, all six programs prepare for weekend tournaments with some non-district competition.

McKinney North:


The Lady Bulldogs defeated crosstown rival McKinney Boyd 64-30 at home on Tuesday night to improve to 7-2 on the season. The Lady Broncos dropped to 6-3.

Alexis Mason led the scoring for North with 13, while Amy Kleynhans and Mikaehla Connor both had 12 points. Haley Carruthers led the Lady Broncos with 16 points.

North opens up the MISD Roundball Classic on Thursday night versus Frisco Liberty. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. Boyd will open up versus Duncanville on Thursday at 1 p.m. Both games are at McKinney Boyd.


The Bulldogs fell to Little Elm 79-56 on the road to drop their first game of the season. North is 4-1 on the season.

Julion Pearre led the team in scoring with 13 points, while Jola Otubu finished with 11. Little Elm outscored North 51-23 in the first half, while the Bulldogs won the second half 33-28.

The Bulldogs will play Keller Fossil Ridge in the opening game of the Grapevine Tournament this Thursday at 9:30 a.m.

McKinney Boyd:

The Broncos dropped their first game of the season at home on Tuesday night, falling to The Colony 45-42. Boyd fell to 5-1 on the season while The Colony improved to 4-1.

Zach Rubel led the Broncos in scoring with 10 points, while nine other players had at least two points for Boyd. In the third quarter, only nine total points were scored combined by the two teams.

Boyd will open up the Grapevine Tournament Thursday night versus Richardson Pearce. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.

McKinney High:


On Monday, the Lionettes defeated Lewisville 58-51 to improve to 5-5 on the season. Lewisville remained winless at 0-11.

MHS will face Frisco Wakeland in the opening game of the MISD Roundball Classic on Thursday night. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.


McKinney defeated Naaman Forest 85-71 at home to improve to 3-1 on the season. Naaman Forest remained winless at 0-4.

Raynell Denny led all Lions with 21 points, while Red Shannon and Connor Fuentes had 15 and 13 points, respectively. 11 Lions players ended up with points in the ballgame.

The Lions will face Lincoln in the Arlington Classic this Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at Arlington Seguin.
