Basketball Scoreboard: Dawgs Sweep, Lionettes Win

McKinney North’s boys and girls teams both won again Friday, improving to a combined 20-0 record in District 13-4A this season. McKinney High’s girls were also victorious. Complete results below:


McKinney North 81, Wylie 51: The Bulldogs (9-0 in District 13-4A) placed four players in double figures during Friday’s blowout: Steele Douglas (17 points), Reed Hadley (12), Jola Otubu (12) and Collin Curran (10). North outscored Wylie  (4-4 in 13-4A) in every quarter and led 44-27 at halftime.

Plano High 58, McKinney Boyd 34: The Broncos’ season provided more of the same trend with another convincing loss Friday. The winless Broncos (0-5 in District 10-5A) trailed only 29-23 at halftime but visiting Plano (2-3 in 10-5A) pulled away in the second half. Colton Head led Boyd with eight points.

Plano East 65, McKinney High 52: The Lions fell to 1-4 in District 10-5A, with their only win having come over Boyd. Plano East improved to 4-1. East led 26-20 at halftime and slowly pulled away in the final 16 minutes. Preston Smith led MHS with 16 points while Remington Edwards added 10.


McKinney High 66, Plano East 58: Mariah Mitchell of MHS scored a game-high 28  points and Brittany Stout added 17. This one was 44-44 after three quarters before MHS fought off East’s upset bid in the final eight minutes. It was tight throughout, with the Lionettes leading 14-12 after one quarter and 29-28 at the half. MHS improved to 5-2 in District 10-5A while East fell to 0-7.

McKinney North 64, Wylie 35: The Lady Bulldogs outscored Wylie 14-0 during a dominating second quarter Friday night to take an insurmountable 35-10 halftime lead. As a result, North improved to 11-0 in District 13-4A while Wylie dropped to 4-7. Chanterria Jackson led North with 13 points while Mikaehla Connor added 12.

Plano High 59, McKinney Boyd 51: A second-half rally wasn’t enough for Boyd after falling behind 32-13 at halftime Friday night. The host Lady Broncos fell to 1-6 in District 10-5A while Plano improved to 5-2. Jordynn Hernandez led Boyd in scoring with 11 points.
