Basketball Scoreboard: Boyd, MHS Go Winless on Tuesday Night

It was a rough Tuesday night for MHS and Boyd, as their boys and girls basketball programs came up short in defeat in District 10-5A play. Below are recaps of each game:

McKinney Boyd Boys:

The Broncos suffered their fourth straight loss to open up District 10-5A play, losing at Plano West 50-45. Boyd dropped to 0-4 in 10-5A and 16-7 overall.

After trailing 21-12 in the first quarter, the Broncos outscored the Wolves 28-16 in the second and third quarters to lead 40-37 entering the fourth quarter. In the final frame, the Wolves outscored Boyd 13-5 to win their third district game of the season and send the Broncos into a deep hole in the standings.

Mikel Parish was the lone Bronco in double figures in scoring with 15 points. 10 players scored at least one point in the game for Boyd.

Boyd will return home to face Plano (1-3) on Friday night, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

McKinney Boyd Girls:

The Lady Broncos fell to Plano West 55-25 to drop to 2-4 in District 10-5A and 12-16 overall.

Boyd failed to score more than 10 points in any quarter versus West, including scoring just four points in the third quarter.

Julia Hendrieth led the team in scoring with 13 points.

Boyd will return to action at home versus Plano (6-0) on Friday night, beginning at 6 p.m.

McKinney High Boys:

The Lions came up short at home versus Plano, losing 71-67 to the previously winless Wildcats and dropping to 1-3 in District 10-5A play. MHS fell to 16-8 overall with the loss.

Despite outscoring Plano in the first, second, and fourth quarters, the Lions were outscored 22-13 in the third.

Red Shannon led the team with 16 points while Raynell Denny added 13 and Darrin Donaldson finished with 10.

McKinney will return to action on Friday night as the Lions host Plano East (4-0). Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.

McKinney High Girls:

The Lionettes were outscored 16-4 in the final quarter to fell to Plano 54-41 to fall to 2-4 in District 10-5A and 16-14 overall.

Mariah Mitchell was tied for the game-high in points with 18 to lead the Lionettes.

McKinney will host Plano East (2-4) on Friday night, beginning at 6 p.m.
