There was plenty to celebrate Tuesday night for MISD basketball teams. McKinney Boyd’s girls beat rival Allen by 20 points. And McKinney North’s boys and girls teams improved to a perfect combined 22-0 record against District 9-4A competition. Plano West 65, McKinney High 55 (OT): The Lionettes fell to 5-3 in District 10-5A as district-leading West improved to 8-0 in an exciting overtime contest. Mariah Mitchell led MHS with 30 points but she didn’t quite match West’s Natalie Chou, who scored 33. Mika Stutts added 11 for MHS. The Lionettes led 27-25 at halftime and 38-37 after three quarters. The game was tied at 54 after regulation before West dominated overtime.
McKinney Boyd 56, Allen 36: The Lady Broncos blew out Allen on the road Tuesday as Haley Carruthers led all scorers with 18 points. Boyd outscored Allen in every quarter and led 30-17 at halftime. Boyd is 2-6 in District 10-5A while Allen fell to 3-5.
McKinney North 85, Greenville 16: A complete mismatch was in store for fans at Greenville High School on Tuesday. The District 13-4A leader Lady Bulldogs improved to 12-0 and are two games away from a perfect district record prior to the playoffs. North led 43-6 at halftime on Tuesday as the route was on. Chanterria Jackson led North with 15 points. Amy Kleynhans added 11, London Holland 10 and Stephanie Jackson 10. Greenville fell to 0-10.
McKinney North 79, Greenville 59: The Bulldogs improved to 10-0 in District 13-4A with the victory. Steele Douglas led all scorers with 23 points. Julion Pearre added 16 and Collin Curran 15. Greenville fell to 4-6 in the district. North kept to a 28-8 lead after one quarter and never looked back.
Plano West 77, McKinney High 54: The Lions’ Remington Edwards scored a team-high 18 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome District 10-5A leader Plano West’s dominance. MHS trailed only 44-36 at halftime after a second-quarter rally, but the second half belonged to West. Plano West improved to 6-0 in the district while McKinney fell to 1-5.
Allen 80, McKinney Boyd 44: The Broncos got 20 points from Colton Head. No other Boyd play had more than six points. Allen led 22-6 after one quarter and 46-17 at halftime. Allen is 4-2 in District 10-5A while Boyd fell to 0-6.
