While the schools may be on spring break this week, baseball continues to be played across the state as Boyd and MHS began district play on Tuesday night. Below are scores and recaps from each contest, including North’s home win versus Royse City:
The Bulldogs (2-0) defeated Royse City 6-5 at home on Tuesday night in District 13-4A action as Montana Sadler (pictured above) scored the winning run. Anthony Herrera was the winning pitcher on the mound for North.
Justin Stevenson and Trey Segui doubled in the game for the Bulldogs, part of the team’s eight base hits in the game.
North will visit Lovejoy on Friday night, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The Lions (0-1) lost 5-1 at Plano in the District 10-5A opener for both teams. Brad Vassar was the losing pitcher in the game for McKinney.
Garrett Dodd had the lone extra base hit for the Lions, knocking one double at the plate. McKinney had just three hits versus Plano on the night.
McKinney will host Plano on Friday night, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The Broncos (0-1) dropped their District 10-5A opener at home versus Plano West 7-2 on Tuesday night. Tyler Keegan was the losing pitcher on the mound for Boyd while Nick Gripp earned the win for Plano West.
Boyd committed five errors and managed just four hits in the game, while the Wolves used a four-run fourth inning to propel them to a district opening win.
Boyd will travel to Plano West on Friday night, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
