The McKinney North Bulldogs (10-1) have had a crazy week to say the least. After Wednesday’s contest versus Lovejoy was postponed a day because of rain, North and Lovejoy took the field on Thursday night at Bulldog Field to battle for the second and final time in District 13-4A play.
On the back of solid pitching and timely hitting, the Bulldogs topped the Leopards 3-1 on Thursday night. Gabe Constantine was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs. At the plate, Preston Speers and Trey Segui each doubled once.
North didn’t have a lot of time to celebrate the win, as the Bulldogs turned around and traveled to Wylie on Friday night for a road district contest. North took advantage of a bad team in the Pirates, shutting them out 9-0 to improve to 10-1. With the win, the Bulldogs remained tied with Wylie East for first place in 13-4A.
Julian Pope was the winning pitcher on the mound for the Bulldogs, while Anthony Herrera, Segui, and Speers each doubled at the plate in the win. Wylie was limited to just one hit offensively, while North managed 13 hits.
North will host Greenville (2-9) on Tuesday night, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
