By Mike Bruu, TSB Sports Editor

In an exciting night of MISD baseball, the McKinney North Bulldogs were looking to stay perfect in District 13-4A with a road contest versus Wylie East, the only other undefeated team in the district. Meanwhile, MHS and Boyd were looking for important district wins as both teams try and stay in the chase for the 10-5A championship. Below are scores and recaps from Tuesday’s action on the diamond:

McKinney North:

The Bulldogs (5-1) came up short at Wylie East in a battle of undefeated teams in District 13-4A, losing 3-2 on the road for the first district loss of the season. Gabe Constantine was the losing pitcher on the hill for North.

North managed just two hits versus the Raiders pitching, as Tyler Hughley earned the win for Wylie East. Both teams came in with 5-0 records in 13-4A, while North was ranked No. 7 in the state according to the THSBCA.

North will host Denison (2-4) on Thursday night, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

McKinney Boyd:

The Broncos (0-5) lost 2-1 at home versus Allen in eight innings on Tuesday night, losing their fifth straight District 10-5A game to begin play. Tyler Keegan was the losing pitcher for Boyd.

Allen loaded the bases in the top of the eighth inning when reliever Carson Chilton walked Pierce Edwards, scoring Hayden Hans from third base and giving the Eagles the eventual winning run. Boyd would load the bases in the bottom of the eighth, but couldn’t score a run off closer Cole Carter.

Tommy Nawa and Paxton Larson each doubled once in the game for the Broncos.

Boyd will visit Allen (4-1) on Thursday night, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

McKinney High:

The Lions (1-4) lost 6-2 at Plano West on Tuesday night, dropping the first of two games versus the Wolves this week. Brad Vassar took the loss on the hill for McKinney.

Vassar had the only extra base hit of the game for the Lions, hitting a double at the plate. The Lions had just six hits in the contest versus Plano West.

McKinney will host Plano West (4-1) on Thursday night, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
