With the half-way point approaching on the district schedule for all three MISD baseball teams, the push for the playoffs truly has begun for the teams at North, MHS, and Boyd. On Friday night, North looked to remain hot at home versus Sherman, while McKinney traveled to Allen and Boyd hosted Plano East in District 10-5A action. Below are scores and recaps from the games:
The Lions (3-4) earned a big road district win on Friday night, topping Allen 2-1 in 10-5A play. Brad Vassar was the winning pitcher on the mound for McKinney.
McKinney was outhit 6-5 by the Eagles but were able to hang on to upset Allen, who entered Friday night’s contest just one game behind undefeated Plano for first place in 10-5A.
McKinney will host Allen (5-2) on Saturday night at Al Alford Field, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The Broncos (0-7) lost 2-1 in eight innings versus Plano East at home on Friday night, losing their seventh straight 10-5A contest to begin the season. Tyler Keegan was the losing pitcher in the game for Boyd.
After tying the game at 1-1 on a Tommy Nawa RBI sacrifice fly in the fifth, East’s Nick Ramos roped a RBI triple down the right field line that plated Ryan Kravik in the top of the eighth inning off reliever Carson Chilton to give the Panthers a 2-1 lead.
Boyd will visit Plano East (2-5) on Saturday afternoon, beginning at noon.
The Bulldogs (7-1) shut out Sherman 4-0 at home on Friday night to keep a three-way tie for first place in District 13-4A with Wylie East and Lovejoy. On the mound, Gabe Constantine and Anthony Herrera combined to throw a no-hitter against the Bearcats.
In addition to his work on the mound, Herrera added a triple at the plate while Trey Segui knocked a double in the game, one of eight hits on the night for North.
North will visit Royse City (5-3) on Saturday afternoon, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
