By Mike Bruu, TSB Sports Writer

McKinney High finally got the five hundred pound monkey of its back, defeating Wylie on the road 9-0 and earning its first district win of the season. Marshall Agan earned the win on the mound for the Lions, while Anthony Hermelyn doubled in the ballgame for MHS. The Lions are now 1-7 in District 10-4A. MHS hosts district leader Rockwall-Heath on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.

McKinney North hosted Wylie East in a battle of 4-3 teams in District 17-4A. Winner would keep pace with the Rockwall schools for first place, while the loser moved back into the middle of the pack. Thanks to the pitching of Will Cooper, North defeated Wylie East 6-2 at home to bring its district mark to 5-3. Bulldogs Heath Beasley doubled in the game. The Bulldogs travel to Richardson Pearce on Thursday night. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

McKinney Boyd earned its sixth win in District 10-5A by knocking off Garland Lakeview Centennial 5-1 at Bronco Field. Tyler Keegan was the winning pitcher in the game, while Evan Williams homered for the Broncos. Boyd’s Will Hollis also doubled in the ballgame, and Francisco DeJesus had an outstanding night at the plate with a double and a triple. With the 6-2 record Boyd is now tied for second with Sachse and Naaman Forest. The Broncos travel to Garland High School Thursday night. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
