Baseball Scoreboard: Lions’ Vassar Throws No-Hitter in Road Win at Plano West

With just a handful of district games remaining for all three MISD baseball teams, MHS and North have both clinched postseason berths while Boyd is hoping to finish out the season on a high note after being eliminated on Tuesday night. Below are the scores and recaps from Friday night’s action, including McKinney’s Brad Vassar throwing a no-hitter at Plano West:

McKinney High:

The Lions (8-5) shutout Plano West 2-0 on the road in District 10-5A action. On the mound, Brad Vassar threw a no-hitter against the Wolves, allowing just three walks and hitting two batters in the game.

Vassar went seven innings on the mound, striking out seven hitters and throwing just 91 pitches. At the plate, the Lions managed just three hits but scored two in the top of the fifth inning to give them the lead for good. Garrett Christianson and Garrett Dodd each had one RBI at the plate.

McKinney will host Allen (9-4) on Saturday afternoon, beginning at 12 p.m.

McKinney Boyd:

The Broncos (3-10) were shutout 4-0 at home versus Allen on Friday night in the final game between the two teams in 2013. Troy Chezem was the winning pitcher for Allen, while Tyler Keegan earned the loss for Boyd.

In the top of the sixth, Allen’s Chris Balogh hit a three-run home run over the right field fence for the first runs of the game for the Eagles. At the plate the Broncos mustered just three hits, with two coming off the bat of Ryan French.

Boyd will travel to Plano East (2-11) on Saturday afternoon, beginning at 12 p.m.

District 10-5A Top Four Teams:

Sherman can force play-in game with Royse City with a win versus Greenville and a Royse City loss at home versus Wylie.
