It wasn’t exactly baseball weather Friday as gray skies and dropping temps led to lots of sweatshirts and coats among spectators, but our local MISD baseball teams were in action.
McKinney High blew out Burkburnett 12-0 in the Lions’ opening game of the Denison Ty Cornstock Invitational. Jesse Cox and Anthony Hermelyn hit home runs. Brad Vassar doubled. Cox also got the win on the mound with a shutout performance. On Saturday, MHS plays Fort Worth Brewer at 9:30 a.m. and Denison at 2:10 p.m.
McKinney North blasted Carrollton Newman Smith 10-0 in the Bulldog Classic at North. Braden Fair tripled and Heath Beasley doubled in the contest. Will Shumate was dominant on the hill. North hosts Wylie East at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday in the tournament.
McKinney Boyd beat host Royse City 8-1 on Thursday in the I-30 Classic. And on Friday, the Broncos played in the Rockwall-Heath Tournament, losing 5-0 to host and lost to Rockwall-Heath and defeating Forney 13-3.
