The McKinney High baseball team was officially eliminated from playoff contention on Tuesday night with a 7-0 road loss to Rockwall. Marshall Agan took the loss on the hill for MHS, while Anthony Hermelyn doubled in the ballgame for the Lions. MHS dropped to 1-9 in District 10-4A. The Lions will host crosstown rival McKinney North on Friday night. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
McKinney North missed a valuable opportunity to pull even with Rockwall-Heath for first in District 10-4A on Tuesday night, but the Bulldogs lost 5-4 to drop their record to 6-4. That is tied for third with Highland Park. Will Cooper was the losing pitcher for North. Offensively, Aaron Rhodes doubled for the Bulldogs. North will travel down Highway 75 to play 1-9 MHS in the second matchup of the season on Friday night. The Bulldogs won 3-2 at Bulldog Field back in March. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Pitching wasn’t the name of the game Tuesday night at Garland Naaman Forest. That’s where McKinney Boyd outslugged Naaman Forest 10-9, improving to 8-2 in District 10-5A. Russell Williams had himself a ballgame, doubling at the plate and earning the win on the mound. The Broncos are now tied with Sachse and Rowlett for first place in district with four games remaining. Boyd will host North Garland on Friday night, needing a win before a very tough week where they will face Sachse and Rowlett on Tuesday and Friday respectively. Game time for the North Garland ballgame is 7 p.m. at Bronco Field.
