After a long and grueling regular season, just two MISD schools remain as the baseball playoffs get under way Thursday night.
McKinney High will begin a best-of-three series with the District 9-5A champion Dallas Jesuit Rangers at Al Alford Field, while McKinney North and Mt. Pleasant will play at Mesquite Poteet High School in a best-of-three series.
The Lions finished fourth in District 10-5A, going 8-7 in district play and 17-11 overall. After missing the postseason in 2012 and starting 1-4 in district play this season, McKinney went 7-3 in its final district games to lock up the No. 4 seed in 10-5A.
McKinney will host Jesuit in game one on Thursday night, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Game two will be at Jesuit on Friday night, beginning at 7:30 p.m. If teams are tied at 1-1, game three would be Saturday afternoon at Al Alford Field, beginning at 12 p.m.
North finished its historic regular season with a 1-0 road win at Denison, completing a 13-1 District 13-4A campaign to clinch the district title over Wylie East. The lone loss of the Bulldogs season came against Wylie East, but they struck revenge against the Raiders on Apr. 19 with a 5-0 shutout.
North will play the No. 4 seed from District 14-4A Mt. Pleasant at Mesquite Poteet in a best-of-three series, beginning on Thursday night. Game two is scheduled for Friday night. Game one and two will both begin at 7 p.m. If teams are tied at 1-1, game three would be at Mesquite Poteet with first pitch at 3 p.m.
