With a new school year starting and tax-free weekend behind us, back to school shopping is in full swing. McKinney High School sophomore Claire Embry took TownSquareBuzz.com shopping at to show us the back to school style that will be filing the hallways this fall. Embry said she recently learned how to sew and has even made some pieces that she will be wearing to school.
High-waisted shorts and skirts. “I used to sketch out clothes,” she said. “It’s always fun to make it yourself.”
Long skirts: “I dress up on Fridays because it leaves an impression for over the weekend.”
Dresses: Embry said she was the winner of her grade’s science award and sometimes it influences what she gets to wear. “I wear dresses except for when I have science experiments and you need clothes toed shoes,” she said.
Embry said she has trouble finding shorts that fit right sometimes, so she has transformed jeans by dip dying, fraying and adding holes to them. For testing days or t-shirt days, she keeps her looks different by changing her hair, accessories or by wearing skinny jeans.
