McKinney will spray an area of the city this week to control the mosquito population after another human case of West Nile Virus was confirmed. Crews will spray Oct. 3-5 starting at approximately 10 p.m. through 6 a.m. each night.
The spray area is generally west of Custer Rd., south of U.S. 380, east of Coit Rd. and north of Eldorado Pkwy. Some of the spray area covers neighboring cities, and some streets in the neighborhoods will not be sprayed. For a detailed map, visit the city’s website at www.mckinneytexas.org/mosquitocontrol.
Residents in the spray area are advised to stay indoors during the spray period and should bring their pets inside. Call the West Nile information line at 972-547-7473 to request crews skip your house for spraying, or to report standing water or increased mosquito activity.
The chemical sprayed during mosquito control measures to combat the West Nile Virus is Aqualuer 20/20, a synthetic compound similar to a chemical that occurs naturally in Chrysanthemums. The MSDS for the compound and the label can be found on the website.
