Thirty crawlers tasted dozens of holiday cocktails in downtown McKinney on Thursday night (12/8/11) in search of the best. The votes were close but Square Burger’s Snowflake Martini came out on top, followed by the Chocolate Cheer Martini prepared by Rick’s Lounge.
The Snowflake, an annual tradition at Square Burger, is a cream Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Bean Martini made with Ketel One Vodka. It was beautiful and delicious, tasting like homemade snow ice cream (those of you from the north know what I’m talking about). I thoroughly enjoyed the snowflake garnish (left), which tasted like a light funnel cake, complete with powdered sugar. The Snowflake Martini is available through January 1, 2012.
Rick’s Chocolate Cheer Martini is made with Christmas Milk, Captain Morgan, Godiva Dark Chocolate Liquor and Frangelico. In other words, a milkshake with a kick.
Rick’s also featured the Hot Chocolate, made with Christmas Milk, Absolut pepper, Dak Godiva, Crème de Cocoa, Red Chillies and Pumpkin Spice made with Christmas Milk, Captain Morgan, Stoli Vanilla Vodka and Baileys.
Other popular libations included La Misha’s mulled wine; the Snickerdoodle Martini at Ruggeri’s Italian restaurant (former Mama Emelia’s); Churchill’s Burnt Apple Cider and The Pub’s Irish Coffee. See more pictures below in the image gallery.
