Matt Lackie, a 2008 McKinney North graduate, is going to the NAIA College World Series.
Lackie is a starting pitcher for the LSU Shreveport Pilots and he’s managed a perfect 11-0 record this season to help lead the Pilots to the NAIA’s championships in Lewiston, Idaho, at the end of this month.
LSUS enters the tournament with a 51-4 record and ranked No. 1 in the nation. The Pilots are favored to win the Series. The Pilots are currently on a 16 game winning streak going into the WS Tourney and are going to Lewiston for their second consecutive season.
Lackie follows in the footsteps of his father, Jeff Lackie, a McKinney High graduate of 1981 who was drafted out of high school by the Baltimore Orioles. Matt Lackie finished his regular season senior year with a 2.37 ERA pitching 14 games with 91 innings pitched, 24 earned runs, 104 strikeouts, gave up 11 doubles, zero triples, zero home runs, and only 37 walks.
