Allen Prepares for International Walk to School Day

Submitted by TSB Community

On October 3, The Alliance for a Healthier Allen (AHA) will once again join forces with Keep Allen Beautiful (KAB), the Allen Independent School District (AISD) and schools from around the world to celebrate International Walk to School Day.

Last year, approximately 4,000 students from 14 participating AISD schools walked and biked to school along with parents, teachers and community leaders.  This year AHA hopes to increase those numbers to emphasize the message of physical activity, pedestrian safety, traffic congestion and concern for the environment by building community connections.

The Alliance for a Healthier Allen (AHA) is a collaborative team effort consisting of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen, Allen ISD, City of Allen, Allen Community Outreach, Keep Allen Beautiful and other Allen residents and businesses all working together to create a healthier community.
