A Truck Stop for McKinney…Really?

A rezoning request has been submitted to the City of McKinney to allow the construction of a full blown truck stop at Wilmeth and Central Expressway. This location is the northern gateway to our city and very close to Johnson Middle School.

A truck stop would offer a tempting after school hangout to local teenagers. Is this the development we want? The landscape proposed is minimal and certainly will not conceal 18 wheelers parked all over. Many people have expressed the need for development along Central that would differ form the Car Lots, so prominent now. Does a Truck Stop bring anything positive to our image?

If this is a concern to you you might call the Planning Department and learn more about this. You could also call your Councilman.
