A Pox on Christmas

Of course, I do not mean that! It’s just that back in 1958 growing up in Dallas, all five children in my family and my father had the Chicken Pox on that Christmas Day. My mother had worked so hard all season shopping and decorating. And the bad part for us kids was that we were sick when we were on break from school and not during school! My Dad felt awful. Christmas afternoon I came down to the kitchen to see my Mom, Grandmother and our Housekeeper, Idella, all sitting at the breakfast table eating the prime rib and Yorkshire Pudding on everyday dishes and flatware. The tree in the living room was dark and the presents unopened.
And they were at that table just laughing up a storm about something. They scolded me to get back to bed. ( I think they were drinking the wine). We had a lovely Christmas a couple of days later. Hope everyone is healthy and happy this Christmas!
