Submitted by Ken Paxton, State Senator
This past week in the Texas Senate, I laid out in committees legislation pertaining to government transparency, educational opportunities, and transportation. You can keep track of legislation I am working on by clicking here. You can also track other legislation of interest to you by accessing the Texas Legislative Information System at capitol.state.tx.us.
I also had the opportunity to be a part of two very special events, the Texas Faith and Family Day rally and recognizing Congressman Sam Johnson on the Senate floor.
Texas Faith and Family Day is a time when like-minded individuals come together to show support for legislation that protects religious freedom and supports family values. Many people from District 8 were in attendance and I was encouraged by the commitment to continue to support and pray for leadership and wisdom throughout this legislative session.
The other event, recognizing Congressman Sam Johnson on the Senate floor, was also very special to me. Congressman Johnson is one of my heroes and it was an honor have the opportunity to draft and file a Senate resolution that marked the 40th anniversary of his release and return home from captivity during the Vietnam War and commended him on his many years of service and dedication to his state and country.
As we continue to move forward through this session, I am reminded of the importance of faith, family, and patriotism in the legislative process. Texans are known for their commitment to both God and Country and I strive to represent those same commitments well at the Texas Capitol.
Have a safe and happy Easter weekend!
