The Dallas Morning News released its boys and girls soccer all area teams, and 4 MISD players found their names on the very prestigious list.
McKinney High’s Derrick Horvath and Boyd’s Jordan Rubel both were announced on the boy’s all-area first team. Horvath became only the third player in school history to be included on the DMN all-area first team. Horvath finished with 12 goals and 4 assists in 2012 and was named the 17-4A offensive MVP. Horvath is signed to play at Trinity University next year. Rubel finished his senior season with being named the 10-5A MVP. Rubel is known for being a very defensive-minded midfielder.
For the girls, Boyd’s Kara Dugall was the only MISD girl named to the first team. Dugall was the goalkeeper for the Lady Broncos, finishing the season with 19 shutouts and only allowing five goals all season. Dugall will attend Rice next year.
Boyd’s freshman forward Sydnie Dolzine was named the DMN Girls Newcomer of the Year, becoming the second Lady Bronco to win the award (Kelley Monogue, 2008). Dolzine finished with 16 goals and 7 assists in 23 starts this season despite starting the season on the junior varsity team.
Congrats to all of the award winners from everyone here at TSB!
