The 38th Annual Holiday Tour of Homes showcases six homes in McKinney’s Historic District and three homes at Chestnut Square, all decorated for the holidays.
“The homeowners in the Historic District have stepped up each year to open their homes to support Chestnut Square.” said Cindy Johnson, Executive Director of Chestnut Square Historic District. “This is our biggest fundraiser, but it also brings increased awareness about McKinney’s Historic District and holiday shoppers to the downtown McKinney Square. It’s a great event!”
This year, Patina Green, Plum Creek Primitives and Smitten Flea will decorate the Breece home at 511 Virginia. Southern Living and Glenda Montierth will decorate the house at 210 Oak St. Moonlight Events will decorate the Dulaney House and the Faires House at Chestnut Square.
“Last year we decorated the Dulaney House with a theme of the history of the Twelve Days of Christmas and people really enjoyed it.” Said Kim Dulaney, owner of Moonlight Events. “This year our theme is the history of toys. It’s a lot of fun and people will get nostalgic over the toys from their youth.”
Once again this year, the Chestnut Square Crafters’ Guild will hold a Holiday Bazaar during the tour. The Holiday Bazaar is held at The Bevel Reception House at 405 S. Chestnut St. and features handmade craft items and vendors from the Historic McKinney Farmers Market at Chestnut Square.
“The crafters work all year on great handmade one of a kind gift items to feature at the Holiday Bazaar.” Said LaDonna Doyle, Dixie’s Store Manager at Chestnut Square. “We also invite out great Farmers Market vendors so that people can send a piece of Texas to their relatives for Christmas!”
