Boyd Athletics Community Project Running Away with Success

Under sunny skies and much cooler temperatures on Sunday morning, McKinney Boyd High School Athletic’s Community Project kicked off its fund raising efforts with the  Let ‘Em Run 5K, involving members of the community at large as well as athletes and students from the high school. With over 400 individuals in the race, organizer Jennifer Santos said, “We tripled our numbers (of participants) from last year. McKinney Lacrosse was a huge part of the success, being the  biggest group who participated.”

Funds raised  will go directly to support individuals who live in McKinney and are currently dealing with any type of cancer. Next up will be the annual “Purple Out” football game at Ron Poe Stadium on Friday, October 18 at 6:45 p.m. McKinney Boyd football players will wear purple in honor of family and friends who have battled, or who currently are battling, cancer.
