Boyd’s offense looked terrific, putting up 494 total yards. The star was Dedrick Scrivens, who rushed for 228 yards and four touchdowns on 29 carries. Quarterback Curtis Ladd added 216 total yards, including 150 passing on 10-of-25 attempts and 61 rushing.
Scrivens scored on touchdown runs of 18, 3, 75 and 1 yards.
Meanwhile, Ladd scored Boyd’s other TD on a 13-yard run.
Horn quarterback Destri White passed for 346 yards and five touchdowns.
The game was closer than the final score appeared for much of the night. In fact, Boyd jumped ahead 3-0 on Andrew Smith’s 30-yard field goal and eventually led 24-21 at halftime after a nice second quarter, capped by Scrivens’ 3-yard TD.
Horn took the lead for good 28-24 early in the third quarter on a 61-yard TD pass from White to Del’Michael High.
Boyd will have its home opener Sep. 5 when it welcomes Coppell to Ron Poe Stadium at 7 p.m.
