2011 “Music Under The Stars” Starts This Weekend

2011 “Music Under The Stars” Starts This Weekend

The weather forecast looks good for the beginning of the Wales Manor “Music Under The Stars” concert series set to begin this Saturday.  A venue growing in popularity, the 11 acre winery nestled in the gently rolling hills just off of County Road 408 entertained approximately 12,000 guests in 2010 and is looking forward to an even more popular run this summer. This Saturday’s concert performance by Jon Christopher Davis will christen a new stage and a larger seating area.

They are also working on completing the installation of a $70,000 lighting setup that will make the Wales Manor stage “like no other privately owned stage in the state of Texas”.  The lighting system designer, Marc Meisenheimer, has previously been involved with the lighting and lighting design for projects like the Hollywood Bowl and the Playboy Mansion Annual Jazz Concert as well as for bands like Mac Davis, Simon & Garfunkel, Dolly Parton and Neil Diamond.  That doesn’t even touch on his work in the film industry.  Completion of the full design is not anticipated to be finished before this Saturday’s performance although a basic set up should allow Jon Christopher Davis to perform on the new stage.

The concert begins at 7:00 but it is suggested that concert goers arrive by 6:30 to claim a table, a commodity that goes fast.  It is a good idea to bring folding chairs with you just in case and picnic baskets are encouraged as they do not sell food.  They do, however, sell wine, wine margaritas, sangria, sodas and water so outside beverages are not permitted.  Wine is sold by the bottle and they have permitted tasting before purchasing in the past. If in doubt, the Wales Manor Picnic Meritage is a personal favorite, not too sweet but not bitter either.   They will uncork for you and provide cups.  Admission is $10 a piece at the door. Children (accompanied by a parent) are permitted and ages 16 and under have free admission.

The Vineyard is well marked but the turn off of FM1827 onto County Road 408 can take you by surprise so watch the odometer and keep a look out for the turn off on your right.

Take a folding chair and a picnic basket. No outside beverages are allowed. Keep your eye on the odometer for the turn off onto County Road 408.
